I love Samurai Deeper Kyo, with it's epic battles that last for chapters, endless supply of characters, and liberal interpretation of all things historical. Also, anything that has lots of snazzy traditional artwork makes my fangirl heart go squeee.
Avoid the anime and stick to the manga.
