Eurovision nightGot myself some ice cream and will be making myself compfy on the sofa so I'm ready for the big, glittery, horrible music, camp, pointless politics, drama that is eurovision. It never disappoints me.

Sadly I will be alone for this one. Matt had to do a concert he didn't want to do, so I will be live tweeting (humonlazydiva) my impression of the whole shebang.

The Echo chamber dilemmaThe promise of the Internet was that unlimited information and experiences would draw us together. But instead it seems to have driven us apart.
For years I've observed this behavior but haven't been able to vocalize it correctly. Originally I called the behavior of collective opinions as "the hive mentality" of the Internet. But that wasn't exactly right and I often got called out on it. The most prominent example was when I made a comic about a guy disagreeing with opinions and being shouted at till he remained quiet, eventually fading into the background with everyone else. The consensus of that comic was that if you disagree with someone you aren't bullied into not speaking, but instead are free to go someplace else where people who do agree with you exist. And you know what? That wasn't what i was trying to convey, but is sadly true. The Internet is not a hive mind. It's many tiny pocket echo chambers of mutual agreements.
And this is becoming a growing problem, I think, because n

Okay, so I had this dream this morning, and in typical dream fashion all the bits that made sense and held the story together floated away.  BUT  I was left with this........
There was something about having to make Sailor Moon coloring books for my mom's daycare because my dad got lost at the store again (this happens a lot irl).  Luna was there inisisting that we make sure draw "the girls from the Negaverse as babes the Sailor Scouts fight with their shoes".  Allie, I'm pretty sure you were helping me at this part.  Luna then gave me a Sailor Moon fanfic to read that was over fifty chapters long.  There was something about the Horde breaking giant watermelons for a party and then getting their toenails cut/pedicured by a giant, Poe-style, pendulum.  The part that got me - the part that REALLY got me (and sparked this journal entry) was one of the chapter titles in the fic....
"I wish I had Rorshach's Eyes"

Yep.
Woke myself up laughing.  Now I'm curious to find out if it actually exists.

LOL! That was more of a guilty hiding than anything else. Also, a good pair of heels and some cuban heeled stockings are a must have for any girl anywhere.
